The château's artistic vocation didn't stop with the fall of the Second Empire, and since 1921, every summer the château has welcomed teachers and students from the American Schools of Art in Fontainebleau, institutions that perpetuate the teaching of French-style excellence in the fields of music and architecture. In 2018, strengthened by this shared history and driven by a common desire, the Château de Fontainebleau and the American Schools of Art Foundation have decided to strengthen their partnership by creating a Music Festival.

Over the past century, more than 10,000 students from all over the world have come to learn and be inspired at the Château de Fontainebleau. Today, Martha Argerich, Renaud Capuçon, Philippe Bianconi, Ophélie Gaillard, Gary Homan and Tristan Murail all teach and perform here. Every summer, some 50 students (mostly from the United States, but also from Latin America, Asia, Africa and Europe) are welcomed to spend four weeks in the renowned teaching facilities. These young up-and-coming artists are immersed in the château's prestigious setting and history, so that their work can culminate in a rich summer program of concerts, master classes, lectures, workshops, competitions and auditions.

Born during the Great War, they are closely linked to the innovative currents that ran through the French artistic scene. Faithful to this tradition, they are committed to introducing the public to little-known works, and to celebrating creation, women artists and nature at every session.

Festival events will take place in the Chateau's Chapel of the Trinity, Ballroom and Salle des Colonnes.
