The exhibition “Colors and Lights of Armenian Impressionism”, hosted at the Musée de l’Esquisse in Barbizon, offers a unique opportunity to discover, for the first time in France, a lesser-known chapter in art history: Armenian Impressionism. Emerging in the late 19th century and developing in harmony with European — especially French — Impressionism, this artistic movement flourished in the early 20th century, shaped by artists often trained or inspired in France.

This unprecedented exhibition, the result of close collaboration between Impressionisms Routes®, an official Cultural Route of the Council of Europe, and the National Gallery of Armenia, showcases rare and exceptional works rarely seen outside Armenia. It shines a spotlight on a rich artistic heritage long overlooked, while strengthening cultural ties between France and Armenia. A true bridge between peoples — through beauty, light, and history.
